In an airplane between Chicago and Stockholm I was presented with this little surprise. “Spendrups” beer.
I pop open the can and give it a sniff.
It smells like a Millers. Not just a little. Not just a strong resemblance. Exactly.
Doesn’t taste like a Millers, though. It’s as hoppy as an Oregon craft beer and as flavorful as an IPA. I am pleasantly surprised and quite happy. Especially since it was free.
The hoppiness rides herd on a galloping light maltiness that seems perfectly balanced. The only thing damaging the flavor is the aluminum tang from the can. I bet it would taste much better from a bottle.
Pouring it into a little plastic cup didn’t help.
